I love the Psy-Changelings series, even though I don't normally like books that are more romance oriented than plot driven. Each of the books in this series is a HEA, with a different couple, and therefore a different main character (or characters) for each book. But the overall arc of the series is interesting enough that in the past this series has been a pretty solid 10 of 10 for me.
With that being said,
Blaze of Memory wasn't as good as previous books in the Psy-Changelings series. It was still a good book, and the things that happened that are part of the overall series plots were good. But this particular couple's story wasn't on par with where the rest of the series has been. Was that because there were no changelings in this couple? Maybe. But I don't think so. Dev is still a powerful male, even if he doesn't morph into an animal on occasion.
I'm giving
Blaze of Memory an 8 of 10. It's an important book for the series, because some stuff happens that is going to be very important for the overall plots going on in the series. But the romance in this book just didn't work for me. I liked both characters all right, and their dialogue was fine. I guess the romance blossoming under this particular situation though... just seemed improbable. Unlikely.
I adore Nalini Singh's writing, and I'll keep buying her books. We got a sneak peak into two upcoming books at the end and I'm really looking forward to those releases.
