Explosive Eighteen out in five months?

Apparently, Janet Evanovich has already written Explosive Eighteen and it is due to be released November 22.

I'm just diving into Smokin' Seventeen, but if I had to guess, I'd say that we're probably going to have some sort of cliffhanger ending so the decision was made to put the second one out sooner rather than later.

Or, I could be wrong and they might just be shifting the yearly releases to the fall instead of the summer. I'll probably have a better idea once I've finished Seventeen. I've had an idea all along that the addition of a third guy will force Ranger to make a decision. We'll see...

  1. It's time for Stephanie to make a choice. I think Morelli and Ranger both love her, but she needs to commit so that the last few books will be about romance too.

  2. I wanted Steph to be able to choose between Morelli, Ranger and Diesel. I'm disappointed that Diesel isn't in any more Plum books because he's adorable.

  3. The story line is getting old with Stephanie. It needs to be Ranger or Joe already. After all these books Janet needs to put Stephanie with someone. And hamsters don't live that long, I had hamsters growing up and they never lived that long. Like Anonymous said make a choice already so the last few books will be a romance.

  4. It's time for Stephanie to make a choice and move on. Making a decision wouldn't mean the end of the series; I think it would open more comedic avenues for Janet Evanovich to persue. I think even the most steadfast Morelli-Ranger fans would agree that this has dragged on long enough and that Evanovich should have her settle down. This is coming from a Morelli fan through and through.

  6. I already perordered explosive 18, and I am going to stop reading after this. The store line has just gotten old, and has draged on to long enough with Stephanie, Joe, and Ranger. This is why I stopped watching the soap opera Days of our lives years ago.

  7. I want her to be with Ranger!!!! I think they would be happier together because if Morelli was her true mate they wouldn't be so off and on... I LOVE Stephanie and Ranger together!!!!!

  8. some people are going to overboard on demanding Janet to decide stephanies fate between both men. She doesnt just write the series for romance thats why she got out of that genre and into mystery, other people like the novels because of her humor and ALL the characters. its a book not real life, just like soaps....they tend to drag it on thats why they are called a "SERIES"...janet is obviously going to choose one for her but true fans of her books just like to read them and not over analyze them. Shes an amazing writer and i love every single book.

  9. I agree Stephanie needs to make a choice! I REALLY hope it's Ranger. I like Morelli but they are on and off so that would never be a good marriage. Ranger is sexy and mysterious definitely the way to go for Stephanie. :)

  10. I think it would ruin the series if she chose one. I think her going between Ranger and Joe is all part of the excitement of the books. I am definitely on Team Ranger though.

  11. Come on, why choose? I think that's part of our problem as women. We always think we need to choose. Stephanie has two hot guys that obviously love her and want to be with her. They both fulfill different needs on Stephs part, why make her choose? She's happy for the most part. Leave it alone until one of the men get tired of her and want to get really serious.

  12. The idea of Stephanie "settling down" with either Joe or Ranger just doesn't suit the character. I personally prefer that the series isn't all about the romance because romance novels are predictable, boring and real life NEVER ends that way! I truly appreciate Janet Evanovich's writing and her ability to keep me interested; my only complaint is that Stephanie has only had one real "encounter" with Ranger. I also really wish Ms. Evanovich hadn't sold the TV rights for her novels. It'd be great if HBO got a hold of it and turned into a series! I'm not crazy on Katherine Heigl as the lead or the idea of only one of the novels being made into a movie but oh well. Also, since we're all doing the "team Ranger/Morelli" thing; Morelli can't handle Stephanie the way she is and wants to change her (quit her job, have kids, etc.) Ranger on the other hand seems content and very amused with her just the way she is. :)

  13. Like a lot of other people, I've found the last couple of books to be a little disappointing, but I'm willing to give Janet Evanovich the benefit of the doubt and hope Explosive Eighteen is an improvement

  14. If I were a guy I wouldn't want her as a permanent fixture in my life. I'd keep her just what she is...a ditzy broad who puts out. My wife/gf would have to have SOME scruples, some sense of responsibility, and just a touch of maturity. I don't understand why JE can't make her a woman with a young at heart fun personality and the maturity of a 30 year old. As she is now, she seems like a 15 year old.

  15. Have read and own the entire series. Just finished Seventeen. Stephanie has finally made the jump from comic, ditzy girl next door to Trenton slut, humping Morelli and Ranger on successive nights. Was so tired of this theme before this, but this was just too much. It doesn't appear that anything is being decided in Eighteen and I'm done. Somehow Steph screwing the troops just isn't funny.

  16. She doesn't need to choose, it's who she is. And hamsters can live that long!! I'd cry if Rex died! The books are amazing I own the entire series and I'm not disappointed at all by anything. I like how she writes and considering she made the books and characters, she knows what's best for em. If Morelli and Ranger truly love her, they'll stick around cause she is worth it. And doing 2 guys does not make her a slut at least she truly loves both of them instead of just sleeping around for the fun of it. Janet Evanovich is an amazing writer and she has kept all of us intrigued this far so apparently she knows what she is doing and how to continue Steph's story!

  17. I was never much of a reader until I was turned on to the Stephanie Plum series. I have all of the books. Cant wait until tomorrow.... BTW i was a little lost as to who she took on vaca at the end of the last book?

  18. This is only intertainment. They are only fictional charactors. Diesel is a bit much, but momma Morelli, look out!!! I love em all, Go Team Ranger.

  19. More Ranger! I love the romantic tension...Love Morelli, too...but he's no Ranger! And yes, why does she have to choose? Isn't that part of the fantasy?

  20. What happened in seventeen she started sleeping with half the neighbourhood and this continues into eighteen. Ranger may be dark sexy and brooding but he shares nothing of himself with her and Morelli doesn't care enough that she sleeps around....I find that I can't care about them anymore. Won't be reading any further of these.
