The first two books of this series dealt with a Changeling male and a Psy woman. We get the reverse of that in Caressed by Ice, with a powerful Psy male and a strong Changeling woman. And the strong Changeling woman has very very very strong and very very very protective Changeling brothers.
Caressed By Ice also gives us a better look at the wolves, which just helps the series arc along that much more.
And the couple in this story, the things they have to do to figure their relationship out, it is very well written. It could have easily been made into something cheesy, but it was handled with skill and it is beautifully written.
As far as the plot arcs go, to use a cliche', the plot really thickens in book three. It gets even thicker in future books, but I don't think I realized how much we were learning about this world during the first reading of Caressed by Ice. Ms. Singh does such a great job of telling a story, everything is so intricately woven into the prose and dialogue that you don't even realize you are picking up all of the details you pick up, .
Here's the blurb:
Explore new heights of sensuality in this return to the world of the Psy—where two people who know evil intimately must unlock the good within their icy hearts…
As an Arrow, an elite soldier in the Psy Council ranks, Judd Lauren was forced to do terrible things in the name of his people. Now a defector, his dark abilities have made him the most deadly of assassins—cold, pitiless, unfeeling. Until he meets Brenna…
Brenna Shane Kincaid was an innocent before she was abducted—and had her mind violated—by a serial killer. Her sense of evil runs so deep, she fears she could become a killer herself. Then the first dead body is found, victim of a familiar madness. Judd is her only hope, yet her sensual changeling side rebels against the inhuman chill of his personality, even as desire explodes between them. Shocking and raw, their passion is a danger that threatens not only their hearts, but their very lives…

As for my usual rundown: plot (both the HEA plot and the series plots) are very well done. Pacing is excellent, and I'll say again that prose and dialogue are always exceptionally well done when Nalini Singh is doing the writing. Character development continues to be better than almost anyone else is capable of, and book three continues to do an excellent job of the world-building that was started in books one and two.
Caressed By Ice receives the same rating from me as the first two books in this series -- a 10 of 10. The series is at a 10 of 10 after book 7, so I'll keep it there as I re-read each of the books in the series.
Book Rating: Caressed By Ice: 10 of 10
Series Rating: Psy-Changelings: 10 of 10
