Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress 1) by Jeaniene Frost

This is a relatively new series but it has jumped to my favorite urban fantasy series.

There are currently two books out and the third book is due out early next year and books four and five are in the works. There will also be a few other books out so we learn more about supporting characters.

And if those books are anything like the first two then Jeaniene Frost has a hit series on her hands. These were books that I literally could not put down. Great characters, wonderful premise, beautiful plot with lots of twists and turns.

Also, like the Charlaine Harris books, there is a bit of thought provoking stuff about discrimination. Is it okay to kill a vampire just because he or she is a vampire? If your mom told you all vampires are evil, what does it take for you to realize that maybe that isn't the case? And, once you've realized it for yourself, how do you go about convincing other humans that they are wrong to think all vampires are evil?
